SOUP SISTERS FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Soup Sisters is a non-profit charitable social enterprise dedicated to providing comfort to women, children and youth through the making, sharing and donating of soup. Founded in Calgary on March 3, 2009, Soup Sisters was the inspirational vision of home cook and soup maker Sharon Hapton. On the occasion of her 50th birthday, Sharon was ruminating on how to turn her heartfelt belief in the healing power of homemade soup into an action plan to help women in crisis. Sharon fine-tuned her ruminations into a full-blown operational plan and founded Soup Sisters, a grassroots organization that would engage thousands in a movement that has delivered over 3 million ‘Hugs in a Bowl to’ families in crisis. The KW Chapter has been partnering with Relish Cooking Studio since 2018 supporting local charities in our community - One Roof, Marillac Place, Anselma House & Monica Place

Relish Cooking Studio is the proud affiliate partner of Soup Sisters Waterloo Region. Participants are divided into groups and each group makes one 15L pot of soup. During the evening, participants are introduced to the Soup Sister organization then given some simple knife skills before embarking on their soup production. After the soup is made, everyone sits down to enjoy a bowl along with our Relish homemade bread. The evening also includes complimentary wine, appetizers and dessert.

You are welcome to come on your own or bring a group of friends. We have 12 spots available in each event. Soups are then packaged up and delivered to the charities the next day. Relish Cooking Studio will also be donating 10% of your registration back to Soup Sisters.

Are you interested in volunteering? We are looking for individuals to help in the following ways:

  • Daytime prep in kitchen (including washing vegetables, laying out ingredients, measuring ingredients, pre-cooking ingredients)
  • Evening: Assistance at cooking stations, dishwashing, cleanup
  • Soup Delivery to local charities (the day after the event)
