People have been preserving food for centuries and now more than ever, we have been taking to this time-honoured skill as a way to be transported back to the garden when it was in it's full summer glory. Today we are joined virtually by master canner and chef Emerie Brine. He will explain the principals of home canning, identifying high and low acid foods and present proper home canning safety guidelines. Then you will make a batch of strawberry jam while understanding the relationship between fruit, pectin, acid and sugar. Joining us for this exciting virtual class and enjoy the fruits of your labours all winter long!

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Twelve 250 mL canning jars & lids (5 freezer lids, 7 canning lids), deep stock pot with rack or canning pot, ladle, funnel, jar lifter & magnetic lid lifter recommended
