Join us virtually to explore the steps to one of the most ancient human cooking skills - bread baking.

This class is a combination of demonstration and hands-on techniques  First we'll review the ingredients and tools needed to make a starter. Then our instructor will demonstrate how to weigh and mix ingredients, talk about how long to let the dough rise, how to shape it and support it while it rises again before baking and how to care for your sourdough starter so it will always make excellent bread. Then we will talk about other ways to use your sourdough discard. This is where the bake-along begins. Everyone attending will receive 150 g of sourdough starter and you will bake a batch of Sourdough Chocolate Brownies using 100 g of starter. The remainder you will have to create your own sourdough breadmaking.

Food Kit includes: This class doesn't include a complete food kit except 100 g of fresh sourdough starter. Pick up of the starter will be 2 to 24 hours prior to class. Pick up at Relish Cooking Studio (sorry we cannot offer delivery)

Equipment Needed: Mixing Bowl, spatula, baking sheets, weigh scale recommended

  • Classes are 1 1/2 to 2 hours in length
  • You will receive the Zoom link, Recipe and Equipment Information 1 week prior to the class time.
  • Classes are fully interactive and cook-along, so you can ask questions during the cooking session. Feel free to watch and take notes too if you prefer.

RELISH RECIPES are developed using common cooking and baking ingredients that may or may not be specified in the menu titles, including various fruits and vegetables, nuts, meats, spices, wheat flours, etc. If you have a food allergy, please check with us before attending the class. Adjustments to recipes cannot be made during class.
