We've put a fun and delicious twist on a book club by combining it with a cooking class. Members meet once a month to discuss the book selection and we cook a menu based on the book theme. Book discussion is led by Words Worth Books and cooking class led by our own Relish staff.

Due to social distancing protocols, there are only a limited number of seats in studio for this event.

Tuesday September | Love After Love by Ingrid Persaud

After Betty Ramdin's husband dies, she invites a colleague, Mr. Chetan to move in with her and her son Solo. Over time the three become a family, loving each other deeply and depending upon one another. Then, one fateful night, Solo overhears Better confiding in Mr. Chetan and learns a secret that plunges him into torment.

Solo flees Trinidad for New York to carve out a lonely existence as an undocumented immigrant and Mr. Chetan remains the singular thread holding mother and son together. But soon Mr. Chetan's own burdensome secret is revealed, with heartbreaking consequences. Love After Love interrogates love and family in all its myriad meanings and forms, asking how we might exchange an illusory love for one that is truly fulfiling.

MENU: TBA (but something Trinidadian)

What To Expect In Our Demonstration-Style Classes: Great cooking is about more than recipes—it's about techniques. In our demonstration-style classes you get to "sit-back and enjoy" while our professional chef instructors lead the class.

  • Classes are 2 1/2 to 3 hours, unless otherwise noted
  •  This class is limited to 11 participants
  • You will enjoy a generous taste of every dish

RELISH recipes are developed using common cooking and baking ingredients that may or may not be specified in the menu titles, including various fruits and vegetables, nuts, meats, spices, wheat flours, etc. If you have a food allergy, please check with us before attending the class. Adjustments to recipes cannot be made during class.
